en.Wedoany.com Reported - Russia's Gazprom and Lukoil still plan to start trial production at the Layavozhskoye field (Лаявожское месторождение) this year, despite sanctions and difficulties with natural gas exports facing the project.

According to a report by TASS (ТАСС) citing the region's head, Irina Gekht (Ирина Гехт), the facilities are being actively developed and constructed, with trial production scheduled to begin this year.

The Layavozhskoye field was discovered in 1971, with total recoverable reserves of liquid hydrocarbons estimated at 27.4 million tons and natural gas at 225.3 billion cubic meters. In 2016, Gazprom, Rosneft, and Lukoil competed for the development rights to the field, with the price rising from 8 billion to 23.3 billion rubles during the auction. Gazprom emerged victorious and established a joint venture, Layavozhneftegaz LLC (ООО «Лаявожнефтегаз»), with Lukoil in 2021, transferring the production license to the company. In 2025, the project was hit by U.S. sanctions.
