en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has completed type approval certification for two indigenously manufactured totally enclosed lifeboats from SHM Shipcare Pvt. Ltd. (Mumbai), marking a significant milestone in India's maritime safety equipment manufacturing sector.

The two lifeboat models certified are the SHM PN95FA (a 120-person capacity totally enclosed lifeboat—tanker version, manufactured for the first time in India) and the SHM KISS 700 (a 50-person capacity tanker version totally enclosed lifeboat, produced under a technical license agreement with PALFINGER Marine Europe B.V.). Both lifeboats underwent rigorous design assessment, prototype evaluation, and testing in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). IRS worked closely with the manufacturer throughout the certification process, assisting in achieving regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and completing testing activities.

Mohammad Hajee, Director of SHM Shipcare Pvt.
