en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ikon Aluminium has announced that its IKL50 louvres have passed the PAS 24 test, demonstrating that installers and contractors can confidently specify larger-sized louvre products.

The company conducted a physical test on an oversized IKL50 unit. The unit was an aluminium fixed louvre panel with an aperture size of 1550x2250 mm. The test sample was tested in accordance with British Standard PAS 24:2022+A1:2024 "Enhanced security performance requirements for doors and windows," meeting the performance requirements of Annexes A and B, achieving door class D classification.
The test was carried out by Element Materials Technology. The testing process included a minimum of 12 hours of weather resistance testing in the laboratory, followed by rigorous enhanced security testing.
According to Ikon Aluminium, the IKL50 PAS 24 aluminium louvre (1550x2250 mm size) withstood violent manual attacks using a 25 mm chisel to pry between the frame and the louvre during the test. Subsequently, testers used the same tool for manual cutting tests, attempting to pry behind and below the louvre blades, break welds, and separate engagement points to create an opening large enough to meet the failure criteria. The attack time again expired, and the attacker failed to gain entry.
The louvre also underwent load and impact tests. All loads remained stable, and the sample withstood three soft body impacts and five hard body impacts without significant damage, ultimately failing to achieve entry overall.
John Park-Davies, Group Managing Director of Ikon Aluminium Systems, stated that this latest round of security testing allows the company to offer customers greater peace of mind. Some customers have already applied this solution to larger-sized products, and this test pass confirms robust performance at that scale. This result holds significant value under current compliance requirements. The company is committed to ensuring customers receive high-quality aluminium louvre products on the market, with components sourced from the UK supply chain, manufactured and powder coated in Birmingham.
The IKL50 PAS 24 fully welded aluminium security louvre can be used as a standalone product, either infilled or fixed between structures, or as a top or side screen in conjunction with PAS 24 door systems.
