en.Wedoany.com Reported - Grupo Casais and ACR recently announced the establishment of a joint venture, CREE Iberia. This new company, equally owned by both parties, will obtain the exclusive license for the CREE Buildings hybrid industrialized construction system in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain).

CREE Iberia will be responsible for coordinating the commercial, technical, and operational development of this construction system in Portugal and Spain, participating in projects of both builders as well as initiatives jointly advanced with clients and developers. If justified by project or market characteristics, the company may also establish partnerships with local enterprises. The two builders stated that this joint venture marks a new phase in their collaboration in the field of industrialized and sustainable construction, aiming to enhance the industry's ability to address key challenges such as productivity, shorter construction timelines, execution quality, material efficiency, and decarbonization of the built environment.
António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of Grupo Casais, noted that CREE Iberia represents a new stage in the company's commitment to industrialized construction, an industry that requires more predictable, collaborative systems with lower environmental impact. The alliance with ACR combines industry knowledge, technical expertise, and local presence to accelerate the application of a solution that can play a significant role in the transformation of the Iberian Peninsula's construction sector.
Michel Elizalde, President and CEO of ACR, believes that the establishment of CREE Iberia strengthens the company's direction towards building better structures through more industrialized processes, greater predictability, and sustainable solutions. Collaboration with Grupo Casais allows for knowledge sharing, capability expansion, and more robust progress in projects where the CREE Buildings system can add differentiated value to the Iberian market.
The two companies have previously collaborated on projects using the CREE Buildings system, including the B&B Hotel Madrid Tres Cantos in Madrid. This project demonstrated the potential of hybrid industrialized construction in planning, technical coordination, sustainability, and execution. The new company will focus on projects where industrialization can generate greater value, particularly in the hotel, student accommodation, senior living, housing, and flex living sectors. Beyond commercial aspects, the company aims to strengthen technical cooperation between the two teams, drive continuous improvement of the CREE Buildings system, coordinate suppliers, and develop complementary solutions and sustainability certifications for the Iberian market.
The CREE Buildings system is a hybrid industrialized system that combines wood, concrete, and other prefabricated components to achieve more efficient, flexible, and sustainable building development. This model integrates design, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and execution from the initial stages, enhancing the predictability of the construction process. Through this partnership, Grupo Casais and ACR claim to reinforce their commitment to a more industrialized, efficient construction approach aligned with European goals for sustainability, circular economy, and reduced environmental impact.
Founded in 1958, Grupo Casais is one of the top five operators in the Portuguese construction industry, with operations in 18 countries: Portugal, Angola, Germany, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, the United States (Texas), the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), France, Ghana, Gibraltar, the Netherlands, Mozambique, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and Qatar. In 2025, the group's total turnover was approximately €1.018 billion, with €550 million from Portugal and €468 million from international markets. Spain's ACR focuses on building construction, with its own industrialized systems and strategic agreements. It has built approximately 2,000 residential units through industrialized processes and is a partner for the CREE hybrid timber construction system in Spain, having developed over 20 projects. The company has representative offices in Madrid, Navarre, Castile and León, the Basque Country, and Aragon, with over 320 employees.
