en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kazakhstan is further accelerating the pace of opening up its mining investment, announcing that it will put 100 geological exploration blocks up for public auction this year, with the first batch of 40 blocks scheduled for auction on July 28.

At the same time, the government has revised the legal framework for subsoil resource development and introduced more attractive institutional arrangements for sedimentary basins with lower exploration maturity, aiming to lower investment thresholds and attract more domestic and international capital into the mineral exploration sector.

Erlan Akbarov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, stated at a press conference at the Central Communications Service that the country plans to auction 100 subsoil resource exploration blocks. The auction notice for the first batch of 40 blocks has already been released, with the auction scheduled for July 28.

Akbarov noted that by the end of 2025, Kazakhstan had amended the "Code on Subsoil and Subsoil Use," focusing on creating a more favorable institutional environment for geological exploration investment. A core element of this reform is the establishment of a special legal framework for sedimentary basins with lower exploration maturity. Considering the higher geological risks in such areas, the government will implement a more simplified procedure for granting subsoil use rights, thereby lowering the entry threshold for enterprises and enhancing the investment attractiveness of mineral exploration projects.

In recent years, Kazakhstan has continuously advanced market-oriented reforms in the mining sector, attracting international capital to participate in resource development through electronic auctions and the opening of more exploration blocks. Officials have previously stated that improving geological surveys, expanding explorable areas, and optimizing auction mechanisms have driven sustained growth in private capital investment in geological exploration, aiming to make mining one of the key engines of economic growth.
