en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samsung SDS, the IT service and global logistics supply chain subsidiary of South Korea's Samsung Group, announced on the 20th that it has launched an NPUaaS (NPU as a Service) service based on FuriosaAI's second-generation NPU "Renegade (RGND)" on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP).

FuriosaAI's second-generation NPU Renegade is a domestically developed South Korean NPU optimized for AI inference tasks. It offers higher energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to GPUs when handling tasks such as answer generation, document analysis, and image recognition in actual AI model services.
Through Samsung SDS's NPUaaS service, customers can use it on a subscription basis on SCP without directly purchasing NPU servers or deploying them in their own data centers. Depending on the enterprise scale, customers can flexibly select required units such as 1, 2, 4, or 8 cards, making the service applicable to a wide range of clients from startups to large enterprises.
The service can also be integrated with various SCP products, including high-performance storage, computing, and high-speed networks, enabling flexible deployment. Samsung SDS plans to offer this NPUaaS through SCP's sovereign cloud environment, aiming to ensure that public sector clients subject to security regulations can use it with confidence.
Lee Ho-joon, Vice President of Samsung SDS, stated that the launch of this NPUaaS allows customers to use high-performance AI technology more flexibly and cost-effectively. Samsung SDS will continue to enrich the SCP product portfolio to meet customer needs and promote the development of the cloud AI technology ecosystem.
FuriosaAI's second-generation NPU Renegade has entered mass production and commercialization since the first half of this year.
