en.Wedoany.com Reported - Gold prices continue to strengthen in international markets. On August 4, the price of gold rose nearly 1% in a single day, approaching US$4,100 per ounce (approximately A$5,830), which market participants attribute to easing US-Iran tensions, alleviated inflation concerns, and reduced pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. As a commodity widely traded globally, gold's financial and industrial attributes are equally noteworthy.

Gold is widely distributed in the Earth's crust and has been discovered on all seven continents. Data from the World Gold Council shows that if all the gold ever mined in human history were drawn into a filament five microns in diameter, it could circle the Earth 11.2 million times. To date, humanity has mined approximately 219,890 tonnes of gold in total, two-thirds of which was produced after 1950. By comparison, the US Geological Survey reports that global annual antimony production is approximately 110,000 tonnes—meaning that two years of global antimony output equals the total amount of gold ever mined in human history. China, Russia, and Tajikistan together contribute more than 90% of global antimony mine production, with China accounting for approximately 48%.

Although gold and antimony have vastly different physical properties, they are often found together in geological ore-forming processes. Gold-antimony mineralization frequently coexists within the same deposit, and stibnite is widely regarded as a typical associated mineral in gold-bearing quartz veins. The precipitation sequence of gold and antimony varies with the temperature of the ore-forming system: in high-temperature systems such as hydrothermal deposits, gold typically precipitates before antimony; whereas in low-temperature systems such as Carlin-type deposits, there is no consistent pattern in their deposition order. Carlin-type deposits are named after the Carlin Trend in northeastern Nevada, USA, a geological structure spanning more than 60 kilometres that is dominated by sediment-hosted gold deposits. According to The Nevada Mineral Industry 2022, the Trend is the largest and most productive gold district in North America, with cumulative production of 98.4 million ounces as of the end of 2022.

North of the Carlin Trend, in New Brunswick, Canada, Albright Metals (ASX:ABR) is advancing gold-antimony exploration. The company's Golden Pike gold-antimony project is located 90 kilometres north of the port city of Saint John and covers 3,292 hectares, comprising 146 contiguous mineral claims.

In late June, Albright released assay results from its diamond core sampling program at the project. Key gold intercepts at the Albright Brook prospect include: 37.05 metres from 60.95 metres downhole grading 1.12 g/t gold, including 2.35 metres from 77.10 metres grading 4.76 g/t gold; 13.2 metres from 62.3 metres grading 1.14 g/t gold, including 1.55 metres from 63.7 metres grading 2.19 g/t gold and 1.3 metres from 69.6 metres grading 3.7 g/t gold; and 1.88 metres from 100.62 metres grading 2.28 g/t gold, including 1.38 metres from 101.12 metres grading 3.01 g/t gold. Drilling also identified antimony mineralization within broader gold intervals: 2.46 metres from 62.3 metres grading 0.50% antimony and 1.72 g/t gold, including 0.36 metres from 64.4 metres grading 3.23% antimony and 2.81 g/t gold. Albright Metals is a company focused on exploration for antimony, copper, gold, lithium, and manganese in Australia and Canada.

In Australia, Victoria is the region with the highest gold-antimony production. Alkane Resources' (ASX:ALK) Costerfield mine, located near Heathcote in central Victoria, produced 43,346 ounces of gold and 1,282 tonnes of antimony in 2024, making it Australia's only antimony producer. According to Resources Victoria, the state hosts 253 gold-antimony occurrences, the earliest of which was discovered in 1851.

Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) holds one of the largest tenement packages in the central Victorian goldfields, covering a total area of 2,006 square kilometres and encompassing the Mt Piper gold project, the South Muckleford gold project, and the Castlemaine gold project, spanning the Bendigo Zone and the adjacent Melbourne Zone. The Bendigo Zone has historically produced more than 60 million ounces of gold, and Kalamazoo describes the Melbourne Zone as having high-grade gold-antimony potential. At the Mt Piper project, the company revealed extensive shallow gold-antimony anomalism through surface geochemical surveys in February 2026. Reported rock chip sampling at the Kurkuruk prospect returned gold grades of up to 3.2 g/t and antimony grades of up to 1,427 ppm, with the anomaly extending 670 metres. Mt Piper is adjacent to Agnico Eagle Mines' (NYSE:AEM) exploration tenements, located 30 kilometres from the 9-million-ounce Fosterville gold mine, with the Costerfield mine to the north and the Sunday Creek gold-antimony discovery to the south. Kalamazoo Resources is an Australian gold-antimony exploration and development company focused on a portfolio of assets in Western Australia and Victoria.

The United States is undergoing a rebuilding of its domestic antimony supply. Data from the US Geological Survey shows that the US mined no marketable antimony in 2023. Driven by federal critical minerals initiatives and China's antimony export ban, some mining companies have begun building domestic supply chains. In June 2026, Felix Gold (ASX:FXG) launched the Frontier Antimony Refinery platform to conduct antimony refining, metal production, marketing, and downstream development for the US market. The company will supply antimony feed from its Treasure Creek project in Alaska to the new platform. The Treasure Creek project has gold-antimony exploration potential and is reported to contain military-grade antimony for defence purposes as well as continuous gold mineralization. Felix Gold is simultaneously advancing both antimony and gold exploration opportunities in the Fairbanks district.
