Green has become the most distinctive feature of this mine. All 120-plus machines—from excavators, loaders, and bulldozers to mining trucks—are fully electric.

"By using China's electric construction machinery, our per-ton mining cost has been directly reduced by 50%," the mine's manager said, unable to hide his excitement.

Since the start of this year, driven by the international energy crisis and accelerated green transformation, building "green mines" has become an industry consensus.

"In the field of electrification, China's construction machinery is globally leading. Almost all internationally leading mining companies have set up procurement centers in China," said Li Kailiang, Deputy Chief Engineer and Director of the International Business Division at Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd.

What underpins this confidence?

— Robust equipment. To address the high-temperature, high-humidity power consumption conditions at Vietnamese mines, LiuGong's excavators and loaders are equipped with custom-designed, high-capacity, high-reliability dedicated battery systems. Combined with flash charging technology, they can be fully charged in 45 minutes and provide 8 to 10 hours of runtime per charge, covering a full shift.

— Mature supporting systems. Some overseas markets require monitoring of every battery throughout its entire lifecycle, from commissioning to retirement: registration upon deployment, and manufacturer take-back for recycling upon retirement. "Relying on China's complete new energy industry chain, Chinese companies have mature experience in full-lifecycle battery management and can provide comprehensive services to overseas customers," Li Kailiang said.

— Complete solutions. Most mines are located in remote areas with weak public power grids. Chinese construction machinery companies offer integrated solutions, supported by "photovoltaic + energy storage + charging + mobile power supply," building source-grid-load-storage integrated green microgrids around mines, ensuring electric equipment can be "powered and confidently used" even in remote mining areas without grid access.

"Once mine production stops, losses are enormous. Compared with foreign companies, we can integrate high-quality domestic resources and provide full solutions to ensure the smooth implementation of electrification plans," Li Kailiang explained.

Moreover, China's construction machinery industry is also exporting intelligent "soft power" as a package. Mature domestic mine management systems and fleet dispatch systems are deeply integrated with hardware, helping overseas mines transition from "human-wave tactics" to "smart brains."

Tangible benefits are the strongest driver behind overseas companies' continued orders. Energy consumption often accounts for 40% to 50% of mine operating costs, while electric construction machinery consumes only one-third of the energy of fuel-powered equipment. At the same time, electrification greatly simplifies the drivetrain, significantly reducing maintenance and repair costs.

For multinational mining companies, Chinese construction machinery is not only "green in use" but also "green by design."

At LiuGong Excavator's smart factory, full-series products ranging from 13 tons to 200 tons are produced on a flexible shared production line, with AI vision systems detecting assembly deviations in real time. From materials to finished products, every data node is traceable. In March this year, the factory rolled out over 1,500 excavators in a single month, up 77.5% year-on-year, setting a new record.

"Thanks to smart factory construction, we use a large amount of green electricity in our production process, which directly helps downstream customers score high in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) evaluations," Li Kailiang said, noting that LiuGong's electric construction machinery exports performed strongly in the first half of this year.

The newly upgraded 5G remote control driving technology enables precise remote operation of 135-ton ultra-large excavators.

Data from the China Construction Machinery Association shows that in the first half of the year, China's construction machinery export value reached $34.373 billion, up 21.7% year-on-year. Among this, exports to the EU totaled $3.626 billion, up 28.9%; exports to ASEAN reached $5.561 billion, up 23.6%; and exports to countries and regions co-building the Belt and Road Initiative totaled $14.723 billion, accounting for 42.83% of total exports, up 9.13% year-on-year. The machinery industry, represented by construction machinery, completed goods trade exports of $559.33 billion, up 20% year-on-year, accounting for 26.3% of the nation's total goods trade.
