Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 15, On Thursday, Global Lithium Resources, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, announced that its subsidiary, GLR Australia, signed a Native Title Mining Agreement with the Kakarra Part B Native Title Group. This agreement is a significant step for the Manna lithium project, located in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields region, facilitating its development and management.
The project is recognised as the third-largest lithium resource in the Eastern Goldfields region.
The agreement is designed to deliver benefits to the Kakarra Part B Native Title Group while enabling Global Lithium to advance the project. It supports key activities, including the definitive feasibility study and mining lease application, with major milestones expected by year-end. The Manna project is recognized as the third-largest lithium resource in the region, with an estimated 51.6 million tonnes at a 1% lithium oxide grade.
Dianmin Chen, managing director of Global Lithium, emphasized the agreement’s importance: “Successfully negotiating a Native Title Mining Agreement that ensures the Kakarra Part B Native Title Holders will benefit from the future development of the Manna Lithium Project, alongside the company’s shareholders, was a priority for me and my team when taking on the role of managing director in February.” Chen also praised the collaborative efforts of the legal and commercial teams from both parties during the negotiation process.
Kakarra Traditional Owner Dennis Forrest expressed optimism about the partnership: “We believe this Native Title Mining Agreement over the Manna Project has the potential to provide lasting benefits to our community, and we look forward to seeing a lithium mine get built there in the near future.” The agreement fosters mutual benefits, supporting community development while advancing the project’s operational goals.
The Manna lithium project is poised to contribute to the global supply of lithium, a critical component for batteries in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
