Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 22, Emirates has placed an order for eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, at the Dubai Airshow 2025. Valued at approximately US$3.4 billion at list prices, the purchase increases the airline’s confirmed A350-900 fleet to 73 aircraft. Deliveries of the new units are scheduled for 2031. Emirates has already taken delivery of 13 A350s.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said: “The Emirates A350’s entry into service last November has given us welcome additional capacity. It has also enabled us to introduce Emirates’ latest inflight products to more customers, including our popular Premium Economy seats. We look forward working closely with Airbus on the delivery of our remaining aircraft including the new units that we have ordered today. Together with the additional Boeing 777-9 order announced earlier this week, Emirates now has a total of 375 units of the latest wide-body aircraft on its orderbook. This is a massive investment in our future, the future of flying better for our customers, as well as the future of aviation in terms of job and value creation.”

At the same event, Emirates and Rolls-Royce signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which Emirates Engineering will establish in-house maintenance, repair, and overhaul capability for Trent 900 engines powering its A380 fleet starting from 2027. The existing TotalCare service agreement has been extended into the 2040s.

Emirates Engineering has become the first organisation in the UAE to receive Design Organisation Approval from the General Civil Aviation Authority for major aircraft modifications via Supplemental Type Certificates.

Additionally, Emirates and Air Canada have agreed to extend their strategic codeshare and loyalty partnership until December 2032. Since the partnership began in 2022, the airlines have carried over 550,000 passengers across 56 codeshare routes connecting Canada, the United States, Dubai, and destinations worldwide.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President, Cargo at Air Canada, said the renewal strengthens connectivity to the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Southeast Asia while supporting year-round Toronto–Dubai service.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, highlighted enhanced passenger and cargo capabilities through deeper network integration.

The announcements reinforce Emirates’ long-term fleet modernisation and service expansion plans, backed by substantial investment in new aircraft and advanced maintenance infrastructure.
