Wedoany.com Report-Dec.1, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud have jointly launched a multicloud networking service that enables customers to create private, high-speed connections between the two platforms in minutes rather than weeks.

Announced on Sunday, the service integrates AWS Interconnect–multicloud with Google Cloud's Cross-Cloud Interconnect, significantly simplifying and accelerating secure data transfer across the two leading cloud environments.

The offering addresses increasing demand for reliable, low-latency connectivity between major cloud providers, especially after recent incidents highlighted the impact of even short disruptions. An AWS outage on October 20 affected thousands of websites and applications worldwide, including Snapchat and Reddit, with estimated U.S. business losses ranging from $500 million to $650 million, according to Parametrix.

"This collaboration between AWS and Google Cloud represents a fundamental shift in multicloud connectivity," said Robert Kennedy, vice president of network services at AWS.

Rob Enns, vice president and general manager of cloud networking at Google Cloud, added that the joint solution makes it substantially easier for organisations to move workloads, applications, and data seamlessly between the two clouds.

Salesforce is among the first enterprises to adopt the new connectivity approach, Google Cloud confirmed.

AWS remains the global leader in cloud infrastructure, serving companies, governments, and individuals with computing, storage, and related digital services. It is followed by Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud in market share.

Both Amazon and Google continue to invest heavily in network and data centre expansion to meet rising demand driven by artificial intelligence and growing internet traffic volumes. In the third quarter, Amazon’s cloud division reported revenue of $33 billion, more than double Google Cloud’s $15.16 billion.

The new multicloud networking capability reflects a broader industry trend toward greater interoperability, allowing customers to optimise costs, performance, and resilience by combining strengths from multiple cloud platforms without complex manual configurations. The service is now generally available to enterprises operating hybrid and multicloud strategies worldwide.
