Wedoany.com Report-Dec.22, China Airlines, based in Taiwan, has confirmed an order for five more Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, increasing its total commitment for this model to 15. These aircraft will complement the airline's current fleet of 15 A350-900s, which operate on long-haul routes.
Kao Shing-Hwang, Chairman of China Airlines, stated: "Expanding our A350-1000 fleet marks another important step in our long-term growth strategy. The A350's exceptional efficiency and passenger comfort align with our goals to modernise our fleet, enhance long-haul competitiveness and deliver an elevated travel experience to our customers."
Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales, responded: "We greatly value our long-standing partnership with China Airlines. This follow-on order is a strong vote of confidence in the A350-1000 as the right aircraft for China Airlines' future network ambitions. Its next-generation efficiency, range and cabin comfort will bring even greater value to the airline and its passengers."
The A350 represents the latest widebody aircraft design, capable of non-stop flights up to 9,800 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometres. It incorporates advanced technologies and aerodynamic improvements that establish high standards in operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
Equipped with modern Rolls-Royce engines and extensive use of lightweight composite materials, the A350 achieves a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption, operating costs, and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft of similar size.
The aircraft features the Airspace cabin, providing updated in-flight amenities for enhanced comfort during long journeys. Like all Airbus models, the A350 can currently operate using up to 50 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with Airbus aiming for full compatibility with 100 percent SAF by 2030.
As of the end of November 2025, the A350 Family had secured nearly 1,500 firm orders from 66 customers worldwide, reflecting strong market acceptance of its performance and environmental advantages.
This order supports China Airlines' ongoing fleet renewal efforts, focusing on advanced aircraft that improve route flexibility and passenger satisfaction on international services.
