GE Vernova Signs 256MW Oz Turbine Deal

Wedoany.com Report-Dec.26, GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Aula Energy to supply 42 turbines, each rated at 6.1 MW with 158-meter rotor diameter, for the 256 MW Carmody's Hill Wind Farm in South Australia. The announcement was made on December 23, 2025. GE Vernova's scope covers turbine supply and installation, supported by a five-year full-service operation and maintenance agreement. The order was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Carmody's Hill Wind Farm is situated approximately seven kilometers east of Georgetown in the Mid-North region of South Australia, around 180 kilometers north of Adelaide. The project follows GE Vernova's previous agreement with Aula Energy for the Boulder Creek Wind Farm in Queensland, which was finalized in 2024.

Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for GE Vernova's onshore wind business in international markets, said: "We are delighted to build on our successful collaboration with Aula Energy to bring another high-quality wind project to Australia." He added that deploying the 6 MW-class platform at scale can streamline contracting, accelerate grid approvals, and enhance quality and reliability across the fleet.

Chad Hymas, chief executive of Aula Energy, stated: "We're pleased to be partnering once again with GE Vernova to deliver Carmody's Hill Wind Farm."

Grid connection approval for the project was obtained nine months after the application was submitted. GE Vernova noted that its 6 MW-class platform has facilitated quicker contract negotiations and grid approval processes in various Australian states, drawing on the technology's established performance and grid compliance record.

This agreement continues a pattern of cooperation between the two companies, demonstrating reliable delivery of wind energy infrastructure. The use of a standardized turbine platform supports efficient project progression while contributing to expanded renewable generation capacity in the region.

The Carmody's Hill development aligns with efforts to increase sustainable energy sources in Australia. Construction is expected to commence in early 2026, with the project anticipated to generate local employment opportunities during the build phase and provide long-term benefits through ongoing operations. The facility will connect to the grid via a dedicated transmission line, further strengthening the area's renewable energy infrastructure.

GE Vernova has maintained a consistent presence in the Australian wind sector, having secured wind project agreements in nine consecutive years from 2017 through 2025.
