Wedoany.com Report on Feb 24th, Yorkshire Water has officially commenced the safety repair project for the Lower Redmires Reservoir this month. Contract partner MGroup has been deployed on-site to repair the bypass channel adjacent to Redmires Road. As one of the initial projects under the company's £8.3 billion environmental investment plan, this project aims to ensure the long-term safe operation of the reservoir through infrastructure upgrades and enhance the resilience of the entire regional water supply network.

The repair project focuses on restoring critical water conveyance structures of the reservoir. High-strength composite materials are being used to reinforce the lining of the bypass channel, while smart monitoring equipment is being installed to track water flow conditions in real-time. Mark Brodie, Senior Project Manager at Yorkshire Water, revealed: "This £4.3 million investment will ensure the reservoir operates stably for decades to come. Its smart monitoring system can provide early warnings for structural anomalies, reducing maintenance response times by 60%."
As part of the UK water industry's largest environmental improvement plan, Yorkshire Water will invest £8.3 billion in major infrastructure over the next five years. In addition to the Lower Redmires Reservoir, repair works for the Rivelin Moor Reservoir, as well as the Lower and Middle Walshaw Dean reservoirs, are already underway. The reinforcement project for the Upper Walshaw Dean reservoir is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. A company spokesperson stated that all projects employ eco-friendly construction methods, and aquatic vegetation restoration work will be carried out simultaneously in the repaired areas.
