According to a related press release, this housing construction project will involve the construction of a new 11-story building. Upon completion, the number of long-term care beds at Belmont House will significantly increase from the current 140 to 308. Additionally, 32 new assisted living beds will be added, while the existing 82 apartment units will be retained to meet the residential needs of diverse groups.

The new building is substantial in scale, covering a total area of 14,245 square meters. Its design is uniquely ingenious, integrating different volumes across the first, fifth, and seventh floors. It will also feature surface-level parking and a landscaped courtyard, providing residents with a convenient and comfortable living environment.

Graham Construction holds significant responsibilities in this housing construction project. Their scope of work encompasses complete structural construction, building envelope assembly, interior finishing, system integration, and related site engineering, ensuring the project is completed to high standards from foundation to detail.

The reconstruction design for this housing project carefully considers the resident living experience, organized around eight resident home areas. Each home area serves 21 residents, creating a smaller, more familiar living atmosphere. Residents will have direct access to dining rooms, activity spaces, lounges, and bedrooms, ensuring great convenience in daily life. Furthermore, the facility will be equipped with resident lounges, a café, a convenience store, and a renovated auditorium. The top two floors will be dedicated to retirement living suites, catering to the needs of residents across different age groups.

It is worth noting that throughout the entire housing construction period, the existing Belmont House facility will maintain normal operations, ensuring no disruption to residents' daily lives. According to the plan, the first residents are expected to successfully move into their new homes in the fall of 2028.

Dominic Gallagher, District Manager, stated in a declaration: "The Belmont House housing reconstruction project not only solidifies our continued growth in the Ontario long-term care housing sector but also highlights the strong capabilities of our pre-construction and delivery teams. We look forward to working closely with the client, BTY Group, and Montgomery Sisam Architects to successfully deliver this important housing addition project for the community."

It is reported that the Belmont House housing project is part of Graham Construction's expanding portfolio in Ontario's long-term care housing sector. The company has recently also been involved in housing projects such as Yee Hong Finch 2 and Shalom Manor, accumulating rich experience in long-term care housing.
