South Dakota State University Appoints Former Tennessee Concrete Association Executive Director Alan Sparkman as Director of Concrete Industry Management Program

Wedoany.com Report on Mar 11th, After nearly three decades as Executive Director of the Tennessee Concrete Association, Alan Sparkman will join South Dakota State University in Brookings in mid-June as the Director of the Concrete Industry Management program. He will transition from Tennessee State University's Murfreesboro campus to South Dakota State University, where he will lead the university's newest undergraduate program in Concrete Industry Management.

Sparkman has worked at the Tennessee Concrete Association since 1998 and also served as an Assistant Professor for the Middle Tennessee program, where he developed and taught courses on sustainable concrete construction. Under his leadership, the Tennessee Concrete Association received the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Promotion Committee's State Association of the Year award three times.

"Alan brings a deep industry background along with years of education and mentoring experience," said John Cunningham, Chairman of the CIM North Central Region Patrons Group. "He possesses extensive experience as a ready-mix producer, association executive, educator, and CIM patron. Alan's numerous certifications and designations further solidify his standing as an expert and educator in the concrete industry."

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dean of the College of Engineering at South Dakota State University, stated: "Sparkman has a clear commitment to excellence, collaboration, and student success. We believe that under his leadership, the Concrete Industry Management program will continue to grow and thrive."

Sparkman will succeed Tim Hostettler, the inaugural director of the Concrete Industry Management program at South Dakota State University. Nicole Maher, Executive Director of the CIM National Steering Committee, noted: "Tim's dedication and leadership since the program's launch in 2021 have been crucial to its success. We are deeply grateful for his commitment to students and his contributions to the industry, which have laid a solid foundation for future growth and engagement."
