en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port Authority of A Coruña has unveiled its 2026-2028 Strategic Plan (with an outlook to 2030), which will define the main development axes for port activities. Key elements include the transfer of bulk cargo transport to Punta Langosteira, the commissioning of an industrial complex related to renewable energy, and the transformation of the inner port through the Coruña Marítima project.

The President of the Port Authority, Martín Fernández Prado, presented the strategic guidelines and objectives of the plan to the companies that have submitted proposals over the past few months. He was joined in the presentation by Íñigo Apezetxea, partner in the strategic consulting team at PricewaterhouseCoopers. PwC, together with the A Coruña-based company Octo Europa, was awarded the contract to assist the Port Authority in developing this strategic plan.

The plan is structured around six main axes: Commercial and Port Activities; Infrastructure and Services; Port-City Integration; People, Digitalization, and Organization; Sustainability; and Financial Balance. Each axis impacts three current and future major projects: "Coruña Marítima," "Green Port," and "The Port and its Hinterland." The "Port and its Hinterland" project aims to establish a direct connection between Punta Langosteira and nearby industrial land equipped with rail connections and power supply.

These projects and cross-cutting axes will be translated into a series of specific strategic and operational objectives, which will be finalized in the coming months. The transformation of the inner port and the growth plan for the Outer Port (Puerto Exterior) will continue to be planned jointly with operators.

Before the end of this year, the Port Authority will hold a public event for citizens to present the content of the strategic plan. The plan aims to achieve growth in cargo volume, efficiency, and opportunities. The Port Authority President stated that the goal is to become an open, sustainable, and interconnected port that generates shared value for society and promotes the economic, social, and environmental development of its region.

In this context, the fishing industry will hold a special place in port planning. In the coming weeks, the Port Authority will convene several working group meetings with all representatives from the fishing sector to address the needs of fishing companies, trading companies, and supporting businesses throughout the supply chain.

The outcomes of these meetings will be progressively communicated to the five finalist teams of the master plan and, starting in October, to the winning team, so they can be incorporated into the document guiding the dock transformation. Fernández Prado highlighted the imminent commissioning of the Outer Port's (Puerto Exterior) rail connection (expected in 2027), the securing of €97.5 million in European funds to boost offshore wind energy development at Punta Langosteira, and the economic, social, and environmental opportunities that the inner port's rezoning will bring to both the port and the city.
