en.Wedoany.com Reported - With the support of Alessandro Stagni, Chief Technology Officer, and Fabio Bignolini, Chief Executive Officer, of Northern Light Composites (nlcomp, Monfalcone, Italy), recycled carbon fiber (rCF) materials from Nova Carbon (Mérignac, France) have been successfully integrated into custom captain seats, demonstrating their practical application in meeting high industrial standards in demanding marine environments.

Nova Carbon produces high-quality recycled carbon fiber (rCF), while nlcomp manufactures structural components using rComposite, a fully recyclable thermoplastic composite technology certified by DNV ISO 14021. The collaboration has resulted in composites that feature both fully recycled fibers and a fully recyclable matrix.

Stéphane Le Diraison, a Vendée Globe finisher and engineer, also participated in this collaboration, driving sustainable marine innovation through his Time For Oceans project. This initiative aims to find solutions for the design and manufacturing of low-environmental-impact sailboats and offshore racing vessels. Current approaches include using recycled carbon fiber in partnership with Nova Carbon, while also exploring mold-free construction, low-energy manufacturing processes, and the use of bio-based materials.

Nova Carbon has documented this collaboration in a video that tells the story of the partnership and how it is advancing the future of composites. The video is accessible via LinkedIn.
