en.Wedoany.com Reported - Emirates will resume six daily passenger flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) starting July 1. Previously affected by the situation in Iran, the route operated only five daily flights in June, below the usual six (often seven in winter). Although this route is renowned for its high number of Airbus A380 flights, the Boeing 777-300ER will temporarily operate some flights in July, a notable shift given that this airport pairing ranks first in the number of double-deck, four-engine aircraft flights.

According to Cirium Diio data analysis, Emirates is again operating six daily flights to the UK's busiest airport, a frequency last seen in May 2026. The 777-300ER will temporarily coexist with the A380, primarily in a three-class, 360-seat configuration (with first class), though a four-class, 328-seat layout will also appear. The 777-300ER will operate from July 1 to 14 and July 27 to 31. As of the weekend's schedule update, it was originally scheduled to fly only until July 14, reflecting rapid changes. From August 1, passenger 777s are not expected to serve Heathrow, but this could change, especially in winter. In the first half of 2026, the 777-300ER operated 104 flights, whereas in the same six-month period last year, there were no 777 flights, with all operations using the A380.

During the peak summer season, Emirates primarily deploys "relatively" lower-capacity superjumbos at slot-constrained Heathrow, with the 484-seat variant being the most used—the airline's second smallest configuration, after the 468-seat layout. In the 12 months ending April 2026, booking data shows nearly 1.5 million passengers traveled solely between Heathrow and Dubai, without connecting to other destinations. Emirates' high frequency makes it the absolute market leader. Its schedule roughly reflects flight waves at Dubai Airport, with passengers arriving from across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East, then connecting to Heathrow, and vice versa. The specific flight deploying the 777 differs slightly in at least one direction: departing Dubai is flight EK31, taking off at 11:25 AM UAE time and arriving at Heathrow at 4:10 PM. This morning departure has few convenient and competitive connecting flights, likely catering more to local demand and absorbing passengers from previous flight delays.

Using booking data to analyze Emirates' connecting passenger traffic involving Heathrow (officially known as sixth-freedom traffic), in the 12 months ending April 2026, approximately 950,000 passengers transferred in Dubai to another flight, with about 2,500 people doing so daily. Emirates' largest country market is India, followed by Australia, Pakistan, Thailand, New Zealand, Maldives, South Africa, Indonesia, Mauritius, and the Philippines. At the airport level, the most popular segments are Melbourne Airport (MEL), Sydney, Brisbane, Malé, Islamabad, Mauritius, Bangkok, Colombo, Auckland, and Lahore.
