en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) has awarded the Port Community System (PCS) project to Kale Logistics Solutions, initiating the construction of Mozambique's first port community system. The project aims to drive the digital transformation of Maputo Port, supporting the country's goal of becoming a trade and logistics hub in Southern Africa.
The Maputo PCS is part of the Mozambican government's broader digital transformation plan. The system will create a single digital platform connecting stakeholders in the maritime and logistics sectors, enabling secure information sharing, process automation, and real-time collaboration, thereby streamlining trade processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and building a more interconnected and transparent port community.
The platform supports a wide range of port activities, including vessel management, import and export, transshipment, coastal shipping, truck and rail transport, customs and regulatory processes, warehouse operations, and performance monitoring. It can also integrate with existing systems such as customs single windows, terminal operating systems, vessel traffic management systems, and banking and payment platforms, providing a seamless digital environment for all port users.
Minister of Transport and Logistics João Matlombe stated that digital transformation has become a prerequisite for competitiveness, and the port community system represents a strategic step toward an integrated, efficient, and transparent logistics ecosystem, aligning with the government's vision for transport modernization and trade facilitation. He noted that as Mozambique's first port community system, this initiative makes Maputo Port a pioneer and lays the foundation for the digital evolution of the national logistics network.
MPDC CEO Osório Lucas pointed out that the implementation of the PCS supports the company's vision of building a smarter, more interconnected, and more efficient port ecosystem. The platform will enable real-time collaboration and information sharing among stakeholders while enhancing Maputo Port's role as a strategic gateway for regional and international trade. He also expressed gratitude for the support from the Mozambican government.
Kalé Director and Co-founder Vineet Malhotra stated that this project is a significant milestone for the company and reinforces its commitment to supporting Africa's digital trade transformation. Kalé has deployed digital solutions in over 150 airports and ports across more than 50 countries, collaborating with governments, ports, airports, customs authorities, and logistics communities to enhance digital trade facilitation and supply chain efficiency. The company is also working with the governments of Oman, Benin, Brunei, and Malaysia (Port Klang) to advance the digitalization of maritime trade.
