en.Wedoany.com Reported - German EPC contractor Belectric has secured a contract from Dutch developer Novar to build the 148 MWp Westermeerdijk solar farm in the Netherlands. Located in the Noordoostpolder region of Flevoland province, the project spans over six kilometers in length, making it one of the larger solar installations in the country.
The EPC contract covers the full scope of project design conversion, civil works, cable routing, grid interconnection, and construction logistics. The solar farm will adopt an east-west array layout to optimize land use and adjust the daily power generation curve. In selected areas, the project will install partially transparent solar modules to maintain sunlight exposure for ground vegetation, a solution evaluated based on a soil light exposure method developed by the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and Wageningen University & Research.
Belectric will not only handle construction but also provide operation and maintenance services after commissioning. Financial close for the project has been completed by Novar and its partner Westermeerweg Zon Holding, each holding a 50% ownership stake. This EPC contract is one of Belectric's significant projects in the Dutch market, with construction expected to commence soon.
This EPC contract is a key project for Belectric in the Dutch market. While enhancing the region's renewable energy supply capacity, the Westermeerdijk project seeks to strike a balance between photovoltaic development and agricultural land use, offering practical insights for similar projects. Belectric has previously completed large-scale photovoltaic projects in markets such as Germany, Italy, and Israel, and this contract further expands its business footprint in the Netherlands. Once completed, the solar farm is expected to connect to the Dutch national grid, providing clean electricity to the local area.
