en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vedanta Group has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for renewable energy projects at three locations in Tamil Nadu, India, inviting proposals from renewable energy developers and contractors for solar power facilities integrated with battery energy storage systems. Vedanta plans to utilize existing land assets at the three sites for renewable energy generation and storage deployment.

According to the EOI, the project scope includes 100 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity across distributed sites, along with an optional 240 MWh centralized battery energy storage system. The proposed assets will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate or Build-Own-Operate-Transfer model, and the EOI structure also includes an option for power sale. Vedanta has previously increased its renewable energy capacity to 1.03 GW through multiple agreements and plans to achieve a renewable energy target of 2.5 GW by 2030. The advancement of the Tamil Nadu project will further support the realization of this goal.

Vedanta has been active in the renewable energy sector recently. In February 2026, its subsidiary Vedanta Power Company issued an EOI for a 25 to 40 MW solar project at a thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. Additionally, Vedanta has signed a power supply agreement with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Company to supply 500 MW of power starting from February 2026. The company has set a target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and has committed to investing $5 billion over the next decade to accelerate the transition to net-zero operations.
