en.Wedoany.com Reported - EDF recently announced that it has officially become the official low-carbon electricity supplier and founding partner for the 2030 Alpine Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. As the first founding partner of the Organizing Committee for these Winter Games, EDF will provide low-carbon electricity and electrification solutions, helping to create a more responsible and sustainable sporting event while driving the energy transition in mountainous regions.

Following the London 2012 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, EDF continues to fulfill its commitment, aiming to turn the 2030 Alpine Winter Games into a showcase for electrification and decarbonization solutions in mountainous areas. The group employs tens of thousands of people in the Alpine valleys, serving low-carbon electricity production facilities such as hydroelectric dams, nuclear power plants, wind farms, and photovoltaic power plants.

EDF will assist local government agencies in advancing the following: providing competitive and independently controllable low-carbon electricity; supporting the electrification of transportation, particularly for travel to and from mountain resorts and within scenic areas; improving energy efficiency in sports venues, tourist facilities, and infrastructure of the Olympic Village; and showcasing the group's innovations in hydropower, water resource management, energy efficiency improvement, and energy services. Through its subsidiaries and specialized departments, including the hydropower business, IZIVIA (focused on electric mobility), EDF Business Services, and Hydrostadium (specializing in high-end water sports facilities), the group is committed to making the Alpine region a hub for energy innovation.

EDF has supported French sports for 35 years. By backing four major French sports federations—canoeing, disability sports, swimming, and football—as well as the "EDF Team" of top athletes, the group actively promotes the core values of sustainable responsibility, sharing, diversity, gender balance, and inclusion.

Bernard Fontana, Chairman and CEO of EDF, stated that the Alps hold a central place in the group's history. By becoming the first partner for the 2030 Alpine Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the group hopes to dedicate all its professional expertise to fully unleash new vitality for the energy transition in mountainous regions through this event. Edgar Grospiron, President of the Organizing Committee for the 2030 Alpine Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, said that EDF's involvement sends a positive signal. Both parties share the common ambition to prove to the world that the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games can be environmentally responsible and leave a tangible legacy for the Alpine region.
