REC Signs ₹15,000 Crore MoU with Tripura for 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - REC Limited has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Government of Tripura to support the development of renewable energy and power projects worth ₹15,000 crore. The company, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a leading non-banking financial company, inked these agreements during the "Destination Tripura Business Summit 2026," underscoring its commitment to driving sustainable development and strengthening power infrastructure in the northeastern region.

Under the first MoU, REC Limited, in collaboration with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) through the Power Department of the Government of Tripura, will provide financial assistance for renewable energy projects valued at up to ₹5,000 crore. The agreement was signed by Subhendu Roy, Chief Project Manager of REC's Guwahati Regional Office, and D. S. Das, Acting Director of TREDA. As the nodal agency for renewable energy development in Tripura, TREDA will facilitate the implementation of renewable energy projects across the state, while REC Limited will provide financial support to ease investments in the green energy sector. This partnership is expected to accelerate the adoption of clean energy, unlock Tripura's renewable energy potential, and contribute to the region's sustainable development.

Further strengthening collaboration with the state government, REC Limited also signed another MoU with the Power Department of the Government of Tripura through the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to support power sector projects worth ₹10,000 crore. The signing ceremony was attended by Ratan Lal Nath, Minister of Power for the Government of Tripura, with Subhendu Roy, Chief Project Manager of REC's Guwahati Regional Office, and Sh. Biswajit Basu, Managing Director of TSECL, jointly signing the agreement. This ₹10,000 crore partnership aims to finance key power sector initiatives in the state, supporting the expansion and modernization of Tripura's power infrastructure while ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for citizens.
