en.Wedoany.com Reported - Keyland Developments, the land development arm of Yorkshire Water, has secured full planning permission from Bradford City Council for its planned Esholt mixed-use project, clearing the way for the transformation of land surrounding a wastewater treatment plant.
The project is considered one of the UK's most ambitious circular economy developments, aiming to place the operational wastewater treatment plant at the heart of the community by supplying it with renewable heat, electricity, and reclaimed water, shifting away from the traditional view of such facilities as isolated industrial infrastructure. Years of investment in advanced wastewater treatment technology have significantly reduced the plant's physical footprint, freeing up approximately 180 acres of brownfield land for redevelopment.

With planning permission secured, Keyland will begin seeking a development partner for the commercial portion and bring in a housebuilder to deliver the residential phase.
Luke Axe, Land and Planning Director at Keyland Developments, stated that full planning permission allows the team to move to the next stage of the delivery process, which involves finding like-minded partners to bring the project to life, adding that there is an opportunity to create one of the UK's most impressive and desirable mixed-use communities. The masterplan, designed by Tate & Co with input from sustainability consultant 3ADAPT, has been recognized by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) as a model of sustainable design.
