WATTMORE completes construction phase of 3MW/12MWh energy storage project for Lincoln Electric System in the U.S.

en.Wedoany.com Reported - WATTMORE announced that the construction phase of its 3 MW / 12 MWh energy storage project for Nebraska-based utility company Lincoln Electric System (LES) has been completed, with final commissioning to be finished in the coming weeks. The project is the result of a four-year collaboration between WATTMORE and Bridge Renewables (now Apollo Capital), as well as a two-year construction effort with long-duration energy storage technology provider Eos Energy Enterprises (Eos). A ribbon-cutting ceremony and facility tour held last week in Lincoln celebrated this milestone with all parties involved.

WATTMORE founder and CEO Jonathan (JW) Postal delivered a speech at the event, stating that on behalf of the company's team of engineers, software creators, and project managers, they are proud that this utility-scale energy storage system is nearing completion. The team will finalize commissioning and meet commercial operation requirements in the coming weeks. Postal also thanked partners Pro-Bid Energy for their EPC work, Bridge Renewables (Apollo Capital) for financing collaboration, and technology partners Dynapower and Eos Energy, with special appreciation for the entire team at Lincoln Electric System for their leadership and support of the project.

Eos supplied its Z3 zinc-based long-duration energy storage technology. Based on a non-flammable aqueous zinc chemistry and manufactured in the U.S., this technology is designed for utility-scale applications requiring safe and reliable performance, operational flexibility, and multi-hour discharge durations.

The project will enhance the local grid and LES's existing community grid. In the event of a power outage, this grid can support downtown Lincoln and handle grid services. This energy system was built by three U.S. energy companies, and their resilient efforts ensure this milestone project efficiently serves Nebraska's capital city.

WATTMORE's Intellect Operate system will monitor and manage battery health, safety, and daily operations, while providing customized energy dispatch schedules.

The project also supports LES's strategic plan "Powering LES Forward" by advancing reliable and resilient infrastructure, enhancing operational flexibility, and leveraging energy storage to manage energy costs.

LES CEO Emeka Anyanwu stated that the ribbon-cutting reflects LES's long-standing commitment to innovation and responsible planning. Projects like this help ensure the delivery of safe, resilient, and affordable energy while building a stronger future for the community.
