The investment will be directed toward upgrading Ford’s Maraimalai Nagar manufacturing facility in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The plant will be retooled to manufacture high-end engines for export markets, with an annual production capacity exceeding 200,000 units.

The engines produced under this initiative will not be exported to the United States. An official announcement regarding the project is expected to be made as early as this week.
