Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 20, Bolivia’s cement consumption in September 2025 reached 336,777 tonnes, reflecting a 4.9 per cent year-on-year decrease from 353,970 tonnes recorded in September 2024, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Regional performance varied across the country’s departments. The smallest market, Pando, experienced the sharpest decline, with consumption falling 56.6 per cent to 1,110 tonnes from 2,559 tonnes. Cochabamba recorded a significant reduction of 30.1 per cent, with September 2025 demand at 59,992 tonnes compared to 85,885 tonnes the previous year. Tarija saw consumption decrease by 16.7 per cent to 15,612 tonnes.
In La Paz, Bolivia’s largest cement market, consumption eased by 1.8 per cent to 95,094 tonnes. By contrast, several departments posted gains. Santa Cruz, the second-largest market, registered a modest increase of 0.6 per cent to 90,314 tonnes. Beni reported growth of 4.7 per cent to 4,682 tonnes, while Potosí advanced 12.8 per cent to 16,351 tonnes.
Stronger expansion was observed in Oruro, where consumption rose 24.2 per cent to 21,557 tonnes. The most notable year-on-year growth occurred in Chuquisaca, with demand climbing 34.3 per cent to 32,064 tonnes from 23,883 tonnes in September 2024.
For the first nine months of 2025, total cement consumption in Bolivia amounted to 2.910 million tonnes, representing a 1.7 per cent decline compared to 2.961 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2024.
The mixed regional results highlight differing levels of construction and infrastructure activity across the country, with some areas continuing to show resilience despite the overall moderated pace of cement demand during the period.
