Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 28, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has secured a turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth approximately Rs 13.13 billion ($147 million) for a 240 MW AC solar photovoltaic project in South Africa.

SWREL operates in the solar, floating solar, and hybrid and energy storage solutions sectors.

This marks the company's second EPC project award from South Africa in the current fiscal year and brings its active projects in the country to four, each with a different developer.

With the latest contract, SWREL's total order inflows for the fiscal year have exceeded Rs 50.88 billion.

In October, the company had received a letter of intent for a separate 115 MWp solar project valued at $120 million in the same country.

SWREL noted that the two projects awarded in the previous fiscal year are progressing well operationally, further strengthening its footprint in the South African market.

The South African solar PV sector continues to grow steadily, supported by rising corporate demand for reliable power supply, falling technology costs, and enhanced grid conditions.

The company is capitalising on these favourable trends by expanding its project pipeline and building stronger ties with local developers.

SWREL Global CEO Chandra Kishore Thakur said: “We are very excited to announce our second international order from South Africa this fiscal year within a span of two months.

"South Africa remains a key international market for us where we are currently implementing four PV projects with four reputed customers reflecting our strong value proposition and positioning in this market.

"With this order win, SWREL has now achieved ~Rs50.8bn of order inflows this fiscal, and ordering momentum continues to remain robust."

As a comprehensive renewable energy EPC provider, SWREL delivers end-to-end solutions for utility-scale solar, floating solar, hybrid projects, and energy storage systems.

The company’s global portfolio now stands above 22.8 GWp, covering both commissioned facilities and projects at various stages of execution.
