Today (25th), it was learned from the Three Gorges Group that the first unit of the Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station, which is China's largest single-unit capacity pumped storage power station, has been connected to the grid and started generating electricity. This marks another key breakthrough for China in the fields of major hydropower equipment and engineering construction.

The Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station is a key implementation project under China's 14th Five-Year Plan. With a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan, it consists of an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, a water conveyance system, and an underground powerhouse. It is equipped with four generating units, each with a capacity of 425,000 kilowatts, resulting in a total installed capacity of 1.7 million kilowatts.

In the future, the power station will undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase modulation, energy storage, and emergency backup for the Zhejiang power grid. It will provide crucial support for enhancing the flexible dispatch capability and ensuring the stable operation of the East China power grid.
