India's Rajouri Launches Road Construction Projects Worth Rs 494 Crore

Wedoany.com Report on Feb 10th, The road infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district received a significant boost as Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed inaugurated and laid foundation stones for road construction projects worth Rs 493 crore. These projects were launched at the Public Works Department office in Rajouri, with simultaneous online events held across multiple constituencies.

According to official figures, a total of seven road construction projects, with a combined investment of Rs 102 crore, were completed. Among these, five projects (worth Rs 70.075 crore) are located in the Thanamandi constituency, and two projects (worth Rs 31.069 crore) are in the Rajouri constituency.

Additionally, foundation stones were laid online for a total of 22 road projects, with a total approved budget of Rs 391 crore. Among these, the Budhal constituency received 7 projects with a total value of Rs 136 crore; the Thanamandi constituency received 11 projects with a total value of Rs 213 crore; and the Rajouri constituency received 4 projects with an approved budget of Rs 41.055 crore.

All projects are being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), aiming to enhance road connectivity in remote rural areas of the region. Officials stated that these projects are expected to improve public access to essential services and boost the overall socio-economic development of the Pir Panjal region.

Numerous local residents participated in the event and welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude to the MP and the government for prioritizing the long-pending connectivity needs.

Member of Legislative Council Iftikhar Ahmed said, "We are extremely happy that our MP, Mr. Altaf, has completed the road repairs and also laid the foundation for roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)... These seven roads in my constituency will benefit the residents. The road connectivity that was missing for 70 years will benefit them."

District Development Council member Syed Abdul Rashid highlighted the role of the MP in pushing for development projects and emphasized the importance of regular reviews to ensure timely completion. She said, "At our level, we have always strived to work from the grassroots... I will request Mr. Mian to continue holding review meetings every six months to ensure these works are completed smoothly."

Officials stated that these road construction projects mark a significant step for the Rajouri district in improving rural infrastructure and long-term connectivity.
