Cullet LLC Establishes Cullet Ohio Operating Platform, Acquires Repeat Glass Assets to Advance U.S. Glass Recycling SystemClariant has entered into a strategic collaboration with Vertimass LLC, aiming to accelerate the research, development, and commercialization of advanced zeolite catalysts for converting bio-based alcohols into renewable fuels. This partnership will focus on Vertimass's integrated Alcohol Deoxygenation and Oligomerization (CADO) process, a technology that efficiently catalyzes alcohols such as methanol and ethanol into liquid fuels compatible with existing vehicles and aircraft.

Under the agreement, Clariant will provide comprehensive technical support for catalyst development and industrial scaling, including tailored zeolite platforms, catalyst performance testing and characterization services, and expert guidance for commercial production. Both parties stated that the goal of this collaboration is to optimize zeolite catalyst performance while accelerating the large-scale deployment of the CADO process to promote its widespread application in the renewable fuel market.

As a key material in renewable fuel production, the scaled application of zeolite catalysts is expected to reduce production costs and improve energy efficiency. The collaboration between Clariant and Vertimass is anticipated to drive innovation in zeolite catalyst technology, supporting sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, Clariant recently completed an expansion project at its Care Chemicals production site in Daya Bay, China, with an investment of $88 million, to enhance production capacity for pharmaceutical excipients, polyethylene glycols, and specialty chemicals.

This expansion includes the installation of a second pharmaceutical ingredient spray tower and the addition of reactors in the multi-purpose plant, aiming to increase production capacity for surfactants and polymer additives. Clariant's global business expansion, including the zeolite catalyst collaboration and production site investments, reflects its ongoing commitment to sustainable development and the field of green chemistry.
