en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 27th, OnPath Energy is seeking support for the 43 MW Glen Waters wind farm project located in East Ayrshire, UK, which is expected to bring over £40 million in economic benefits to the local area. This renewable energy project aims to promote sustainable development while providing tangible benefits to the community.Glen Waters Wind Farm

The project includes a £10.3 million community benefit fund and a 1% community ownership scheme, in line with relevant Scottish Government guidelines. OnPath Energy states that the Glen Waters Wind Farm is projected to generate £30 million in lifetime expenditure within the East Ayrshire economy and create approximately 183 full-time equivalent jobs, contributing to local employment and skills development.

If approved, the Glen Waters Wind Farm will produce enough electricity annually to meet the needs of around 36,000 households. In response to community feedback, the project plan has been adjusted, reducing the number of turbines from eight to six and lowering their height from 250 meters to 200 meters to minimize environmental impact.

The proposal also includes a local decarbonization pilot project for homes within a 2-kilometer radius, which, if successful, will be expanded across the nine Community Council areas. Ewan Robertson, Project Manager at OnPath Energy, said: "We prioritize working with local people to create a first-class project. By listening to local views, we have developed a project that understands local needs, providing us with valuable insights that have guided every stage of the process." He added: "We have taken on board local concerns and adapted our plans accordingly. Feedback on the new proposal has been very positive, and I believe that with public support, our application will be successful."

Aileen McCreadie, Partnerships and Community Manager at OnPath Energy, said: "Over the past two years, we have listened and learned about what matters to local people. People want to see real benefits for their homes and their pockets. We believe that by working with the community, the 9CC group, and East Ayrshire Council, we can support the delivery of lasting community wealth, more affordable energy, and jobs and skills for local people."
