en.Wedoany.com Reported - SENAI CIMATEC, HYTRON, and Petrogal Brasil have jointly inaugurated the Low-Carbon Technology and Green Hydrogen Reference Center at SENAI CIMATEC Park in Camaçari, Bahia, Brazil. This is the state's first green hydrogen (H₂V) pilot plant, with a total investment exceeding 40 million reais. The project received financial support from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) through special participation clauses, as well as from the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Enterprise (EMBRAPII).

The center aims to develop solutions for the energy transition, integrating facilities such as water electrolysis for hydrogen production, a renewable energy microgrid, a vehicle hydrogen refueling station, multiple combustion laboratories, and an ammonia plant. It can test hydrogen applications in industry, power generation, and transportation, while also evaluating the feasibility of ammonia as an alternative for large-scale hydrogen storage and transport.

The new facility allows for the evaluation of technical solutions before industrial-scale application, helping to strengthen the green hydrogen value chain and promote economic decarbonization. Ricardo Medrado, technical leader of the SENAI CIMATEC project, stated that the infrastructure created by the project can validate new technological solutions in a pilot environment, driving the domestic industry toward greater international competitiveness and sustainability.

Marco Ferraz, Head of Upstream Innovation at Galp, noted that the initiative's success is due to meticulous planning, a highly qualified team, and strategic partners with proven execution capabilities. Daniel Lopes, Commercial Director of HYTRON (NEA GROUP), emphasized that the project is a testament to the maturity of Brazilian engineering in the context of the global energy transition. Lopes stated that NEUMAN & ESSER provided the core components of the pilot plant, proving Brazil's ability to safely and efficiently design, integrate, and commission complex electrolysis systems and high-pressure infrastructure, indicating that Brazil is ready to lead the production of hydrogen and its derivatives with robust "Made in Brazil" technology.

Carlos Henrique Passos, President of the Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia (FIEB), and Luis Breda, General Director of SENAI CIMATEC, attended the event, along with representatives from GWM HYDROGEN and Toyota. Toyota provided a Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle for commissioning the refueling system, GWM HYDROGEN provided a truck integrated into Research, Development, and Innovation (PD&I) activities, and HYTRON provided technical support related to water electrolysis. Galp has been operating in Brazil for over 25 years, with businesses covering upstream (Petrogal Brasil, a Galp|Sinopec joint venture), natural gas, energy trading, crude oil, natural gas and their derivatives, as well as R&D and innovation.
