en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, has decided to restart the construction project of the Gomo-ri Industrial Complex in Soyeok-eup through public development, after the project was long delayed due to a private company's withdrawal.

According to Pocheon City on June 30, the construction project of the general industrial complex in Gomo-ri, Soyeok-eup, is planned to be developed publicly by the Pocheon Urban Corporation, and the project feasibility survey service is currently in its final stages. The city plans to conduct an additional feasibility review by an external professional institution after the survey service is completed next month, followed by procedures such as a resolution by the city council, before proceeding with subsequent steps like establishing the industrial complex plan.

The project involves a total investment of approximately 130 billion KRW, building a general industrial complex centered on manufacturing and RE100 on a 238,000-square-meter site in the Gomo-ri area of Soyeok-eup. The target is to complete land compensation by 2028, start construction in the second half of 2029, and finish by 2032.

The project was initially promoted in 2016 to build a complex combining the textile and furniture industries with design and Hallyu culture, but it faced difficulties after failing to pass the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Subsequently, the project was changed to public-private joint development in 2019, and an application for industrial complex designation approval was submitted in 2022. However, in November 2023, the private company withdrew the industrial complex designation approval and abandoned the project, leading to a long-term suspension of development.

A Pocheon City official stated that the Gomo-ri Industrial Complex construction project, which began 10 years ago to revitalize the local economy, has gone through many twists and turns. Since July last year, the Pocheon Urban Corporation has been promoting public development, and subsequent procedures will proceed smoothly, with every effort made to ensure the industrial complex construction is realized as planned.
