en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 330 kV transmission line project from Lusaka West to Kabwe in Zambia, undertaken by PowerChina, has recently completed all preparatory work for the laying of ground wires and conductors, and has fully transitioned into the stringing construction phase, marking a critical stage of the project.

The current stringing section spans a total length of 4.5 kilometers, passing through multiple farms, seasonal rivers, and gully terrains along the route, presenting complex construction environments and constrained topographical conditions. The project team has seized the dry season construction window, prioritizing stringing operations in key sections significantly affected by the rainy season, such as swamps and low-lying waterlogged areas, to mitigate construction risks during the rainy season, reduce delays and equipment idleness, and ensure construction safety, quality, and progress.
To enhance construction standardization and precision, the project team has refined the construction plan and innovatively adopted the "1-pull-2" tension stringing technique, using a single pulling rope to simultaneously pull two conductors. This ensures uniform tension and consistent sag parameters for conductors of the same phase, improving stringing accuracy and operational efficiency.

The Lusaka West to Kabwe 330 kV transmission line project, spanning Zambia's Lusaka Province and Central Province, is a key livelihood and infrastructure project aimed at strengthening the country's national backbone power grid. Once operational, it will enhance the power transmission capacity and grid operation stability in Lusaka, Kabwe, and surrounding areas, strengthen grid interconnection between the two core regions, and provide power support for local industrial, mining, and residential electricity needs. The PowerChina project team will subsequently advance stringing and other tasks in an orderly manner to ensure the project is completed on schedule with high quality.
