Wedoany.com Report-Jun 25, CarbiCrete, a leader in concrete decarbonization, and POINT.P, a Saint-Gobain brand, have announced that POINT.P’s concrete plant in Hauts-de-France will become France’s first facility to produce cement-free concrete blocks, starting in the first quarter of 2026.
CarbiCrete’s patented technology eliminates cement-related emissions by using a steel-making by-product instead of cement and permanently storing carbon dioxide through mineralization within the concrete. This process removes CO2 from the atmosphere, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint for construction materials.
The new production line at POINT.P’s facility will manufacture 20,000 tonnes of cement-free concrete blocks in its first year, with plans to double output to 40,000 tonnes in the second year. This initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable construction in France.
Nicolas Godet, POINT.P’s Managing Director, stated: “This launch, a major first in France, is a key part of advancing our strategy towards sustainable, low-carbon construction to meet the needs of our customers. We are proud to be working alongside CarbiCrete, to move from prototype to large-scale implementation of this innovative technology that enables the production of a more sustainable block for low-carbon construction. Together, we are demonstrating that cement-free concrete, with its greatly reduced carbon footprint, is no longer a laboratory concept, but a tangible, reliable and scalable solution for decarbonizing construction.”
Jacob Homiller, CEO of CarbiCrete, added: “Our entry into the French market is a pivotal moment for CarbiCrete. We see POINT.P, with their commitment to sustainable housing, as the ideal partner for scaling our technology. This major milestone paves the way for wider adoption of the CarbiCrete process in Europe and beyond, bringing us closer to realizing our vision of making concrete a climate solution.”
CarbiCrete’s cement-free concrete products are currently available in Canada and the northeastern United States. The collaboration with POINT.P in France represents a significant expansion of the company’s technology into the European market, supporting broader efforts to decarbonize the construction industry.
This partnership highlights a commitment to innovative, sustainable solutions, positioning cement-free concrete as a viable option for reducing emissions while meeting the demands of modern construction projects.
