Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 26, Petrovietnam, Vietnam’s state-owned energy company, signed a joint development agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to advance offshore wind energy projects in Vietnam. The agreement was formalized with the involvement of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, marking a significant step toward sustainable energy development.

The partnership underscores Petrovietnam’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s energy transition toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. By combining Petrovietnam’s expertise in offshore operations, infrastructure, and skilled workforce with CIP’s global experience, advanced technology, and financial resources, the collaboration aims to drive the development of renewable energy projects.

Petrovietnam highlighted that the agreement will lay the groundwork for a domestic supply chain, create job opportunities, and attract investment in renewable energy. A spokesperson for Petrovietnam stated: “This cooperation will provide a foundation for a domestic supply chain, create jobs, attract green investment, and support Vietnam’s position as a regional clean energy hub.”

The initiative also seeks to establish a sustainable clean energy sector in Vietnam. Petrovietnam’s leadership emphasized: “The cooperation aims not only to deliver offshore wind projects but also to establish a long-term clean energy industry in Vietnam.” This vision reflects a commitment to fostering economic growth through environmentally friendly energy solutions.

The joint development agreement builds on a memorandum of understanding signed by Petrovietnam and CIP in March 2024. Both companies reaffirmed their shared goal of accelerating Vietnam’s shift to renewable energy while strengthening national energy security. The partnership is expected to enhance Vietnam’s capacity to develop and sustain offshore wind projects, contributing to the country’s renewable energy ambitions.

This collaboration positions Vietnam as a key player in the regional clean energy landscape, leveraging international expertise and local capabilities to meet growing energy demands sustainably.
