Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 16, On a recent occasion, Uzbekistan and China discussed cooperation on a coal-to-olefins (CTO) project aimed at producing high-value-added chemical products, according to Uzbekistan’s Uzkimyosanoat company. The talks took place between Odil Temirov, Chairman of Uzkimyosanoat, and Liu Guoshen, Chairman of China Coal Resources Development Group.

The discussion focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in coal chemistry and advancing the use of modern CTO technologies. Uzkimyosanoat highlighted that the introduction of such technologies can create new industrial value chains and significantly enhance coal processing efficiency. CTO technology allows for deep processing of coal to produce olefins and other chemical products, adding value to existing coal resources.

Uzkimyosanoat JSC is a major state-owned enterprise responsible for overseeing Uzbekistan’s chemical industry development, coordinating projects across the country to support industrial modernization. China Coal Resources Development Group is one of China’s largest state-owned energy companies, active in coal mining, processing, and the development of integrated industrial clusters across the coal and energy sectors.

The project is expected to leverage the strengths of both countries, combining Uzbekistan’s chemical industry capabilities with China’s expertise in coal technology and industrial cluster development. Both sides aim to explore advanced CTO applications, optimize production processes, and establish efficient supply chains for the generated chemical products.

“This collaboration is intended to strengthen industrial innovation and promote the efficient use of coal resources,” Uzkimyosanoat stated. The project could play a strategic role in expanding Uzbekistan’s chemical sector while promoting sustainable and value-added coal utilization.

The discussions also covered potential industrial integration, technology transfer, and training programs to support the adoption of CTO technology in Uzbekistan. By adopting advanced coal conversion methods, Uzbekistan aims to diversify its chemical production and generate higher economic returns from domestic resources.

Overall, the meeting signals a commitment to closer industrial collaboration between Uzbekistan and China in the field of coal chemistry, focusing on technology-driven development, industrial modernization, and the creation of sustainable value chains. The CTO project represents a key step in enhancing Uzbekistan’s chemical industry and integrating advanced coal processing technologies into its production framework.
