According to the latest data released by the World Stainless Steel Association, global stainless steel melt shop production in CY'25 achieved a year-on-year increase of 3%, with total output climbing to 64.33 million metric tons. This growth trend reflects the steady recovery of global stainless steel market demand and the continuous improvement of production capacity.

Among the major producing countries, China maintained its leading position, with stainless steel output reaching 41.05 million metric tons in CY'25, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The robust growth of China's stainless steel industry benefits from the continuous advancement of domestic infrastructure construction, the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector, and stable demand from export markets.
In contrast, European stainless steel production declined, with output at 5.9 million metric tons in CY'25, a year-on-year decrease of 2%. This may be related to factors such as changes in the economic environment, rising energy costs, and stricter environmental policies in the European region.
U.S. stainless steel production showed a growth trend, with output reaching 2.09 million metric tons in CY'25, a year-on-year increase of 8%. The recovery of U.S. manufacturing and increased infrastructure investment have provided strong support for the stainless steel industry.
Stainless steel production in the Asian region (excluding China and South Korea) grew significantly, reaching 25.04 million metric tons in CY'25, a year-on-year increase of 28%. This growth is primarily attributed to the rapid development of the stainless steel industry in emerging market countries such as India and Southeast Asia.
