en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan, in partnership with Delta Charge, has launched a fully electric charging and energy station at its logistics center to power its fleet of electric trucks. Equipped with a battery storage system, the charging station offers lower operating costs compared to diesel trucks.

The Weihenstephan station sits at the intersection of two rapidly evolving industrial trends: electric truck deployment and on-site battery storage. On-site battery storage is becoming a key enabler, offering lower costs, greater energy independence, and resilience against grid fluctuations and rising electricity prices. Founded in 1040, the brewery has now become one of the first major breweries in Germany to operate a charging hub equipped with batteries.

The charging station is designed as a fully integrated energy solution. Two 150kW ceiling-mounted fast chargers draw power from a modular battery storage system, with an initial capacity of 125kW/257kWh, expandable to 375 kW/771kWh as the fleet grows, while seamlessly integrating the site's existing 380kWp photovoltaic system. Delta Charge's proprietary AI-driven energy management system continuously optimizes the interplay between solar generation, battery storage, and truck charging to minimize grid dependence and reduce costs. This configuration makes electric trucks not only operationally viable but also cheaper to run than diesel trucks.

Josef Schrädler, Director of the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan, stated that the electrification of the fleet is a natural expression of the company's responsibility and a concrete step toward full decarbonization. Robert Winkler, Head of Department at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection, noted that the brewery's transition to electric mobility as part of an integrated energy concept "sets an exemplary path" and expressed hope that many companies would follow suit. Johannes Kirnberger, Managing Director of Delta Charge, said that both parties "have created something truly special together," highlighting it as a commercially, operationally, and scalable viable model ready for rollout to logistics operators and industry across Europe.
