For the three projects announced by the Korea Startup Promotion Agency this year, Lotte Engineering & Construction applied for a total of five collaborative tasks, including construction automation, improvement of residential performance such as reducing floor impact noise in apartment buildings, and autonomous robots for material transportation, all of which were ultimately selected. Among them, two tasks have already selected partner startups, with the verification work continuing until December this year; the remaining three tasks will complete the selection of partner startups within August.
Through the startup project operated in collaboration with the "Seoul Startup Hub Seongsu" of the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency, three startups were ultimately selected, possessing technologies in AI-based supervision record management, AI indoor positioning-based defect detection, and integrated control of heterogeneous robots. These companies will conduct technology verification at Lotte Engineering & Construction's construction sites by November this year.
Since 2023, Lotte Engineering & Construction has established a dedicated open innovation organization within its Technology Research Institute, collaborating organically with all business divisions including development, construction, civil engineering, plant, and safety and health, to focus on discovering optimal on-site tasks.
A Lotte Engineering & Construction official stated that construction automation, AI, and robotics technology are becoming core competitive advantages in the future construction industry, and the company will lead innovation in smart construction technology by discovering startups with excellent technical capabilities through organic cooperation with public institutions.
