Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 19, Tindo Solar, an Adelaide-based manufacturer, has introduced its latest Walara solar panels, utilizing tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) n-type technology. The panels are available in two versions: a 440 W model with 22.6% power conversion efficiency and a 475 W all-black, seamless model with 21.9% efficiency. Tindo stated: “Both new panels are the most powerful rooftop solar panels yet produced in Australia.”

The 440 W panel measures 1,722 mm x 1,133 mm x 35 mm, weighs 21 kg, and has an open-circuit voltage of 39.99 V and a short-circuit current of 13.9 A. The 475 W panel, measuring 1,910 mm x 1,133 mm x 35 mm and weighing 23.5 kg, features an open-circuit voltage of 43.92 V and a short-circuit current of 13.68 A. Both panels incorporate larger solar cells and an increased busbar count from 10 to 16, enhancing efficiency.

Constructed with an anodized aluminum alloy frame and 3.2 mm tempered glass, the panels have an IP68-rated junction box and are tested for durability against cyclones, hail, damp heat, and temperatures from -40°C to 85°C. Tindo offers a 25-year product warranty and a performance warranty ensuring at least 87.4% of nominal output power after 25 years.

Richard Petterson, Tindo’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We service the premium solar panel market, which means our design and engineering teams have built the best reliability, efficiency and durability into these Walara panels. The development of the two latest panels in the Walara series is a direct reflection of the feedback shared by our customers.” The panels were developed through Tindo’s in-house engineering, collaboration with installer partners, external research teams, and global supply chain technology.

The 440 W panel is available for order through Tindo’s distribution partners, while the 475 W panel will be available next month. This launch follows Tindo’s recent $34.5 million (USD 22.34 million) funding from the Australian government’s Solar Sunshot program to upgrade its Mawson Lakes facility in Adelaide. The upgrade will increase production capacity from 20 MW to 180 MW annually, incorporating advanced automation for premium n-type modules tailored for Australian conditions. A feasibility study for a future 1 GW gigafactory is also underway.

These advancements reinforce Tindo’s commitment to producing high-quality solar solutions, supporting Australia’s renewable energy goals and fostering economic growth in Adelaide through innovative manufacturing.
