On February 24th, the second phase of the Sichuan Tianhua Times New Energy Lithium Battery Materials project officially commenced construction at the Ganmei Industrial Park. With a total investment of 3 billion yuan, this project focuses on the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate, aiming to enhance the supply capacity of lithium battery materials and meet the demands of the rapidly developing new energy industry.
The project will establish a sulfuric acid-based lithium extraction facility using spodumene as raw material for preparing battery-grade lithium carbonate, along with supporting auxiliary facilities. Upon completion, it is expected to produce 60,000 tons of battery-grade lithium hydroxide annually, which can be flexibly converted into 53,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, while also directly establishing an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate. This design endows the production line with a certain degree of product structure adjustment capability to adapt to the demand for lithium salt raw materials from different battery technology routes.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027. As a significant lithium battery material expansion project in the Sichuan region, its implementation will help strengthen the raw material supply security for the upstream segment of the local new energy industry chain and alleviate the market's sustained demand pressure for battery-grade lithium carbonate. Concurrently, the construction of this project will further solidify the industrial clustering effect of the Ganmei Industrial Park in the lithium battery materials sector, injecting new momentum into regional economic growth.
