en.Wedoany.com Reported - One of the country's largest oil fields has commenced construction of a new natural gas processing plant (ГПЗ) with an annual capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters. Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov announced at a project meeting that the Kazakh government has transferred the EPC general contracting functions for the project to a consortium composed of the Kazakhstan subsidiary of China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation (CNCEC) and China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. The consortium will be responsible for delivering a "turnkey" project covering everything from engineering survey and design to material and equipment procurement, construction, and completion handover.

Another natural gas processing plant with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters is already under construction at the field. The completion of the new facility will significantly enhance its natural gas processing capacity. At a meeting organized by the Ministry of Energy, QazaqGaz, TOO «PSA» representing the Kazakh side in the production sharing agreement, other participants in the field's construction, and shareholders of NCOC, the operator of the Kashagan project, discussed the current progress of the project. All parties have established coordination mechanisms and specific measures to ensure project completion within the approved timeline.

Minister Akkenzhenov emphasized that the new plant is one of the key projects for the development of Kazakhstan's natural gas industry and is currently being advanced under the special supervision of the country's President and Government. QazaqGaz is required to submit a monthly progress report on the plant project to the Ministry of Energy, which will reflect construction progress, measures taken, and any difficulties requiring timely intervention by the ministry.

According to previous reports, QazaqGaz plans to build the first natural gas processing plant at Kashagan with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters, expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The second natural gas processing plant will be jointly constructed by the company and Qatar's UCC Holding.
