en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 6, NTPC Limited advanced the commercial operation of the Ramagundam Solar Project and the Bhilai Floating Solar PV Plant in India. With the commissioning of the final 41.6MW capacity at the Ramagundam Solar Project in Telangana, the entire 176MW solar project has achieved commercial operation. Previously, two phases of the solar project—100MW and 34.4MW—had successively entered operation. With the integration of this final phase, the project's total capacity now forms a complete operational scale.
NTPC also commenced commercial operation of the final 5MW module of the Bhilai Floating Solar PV Plant, which consists of two 2.5MW units. The Bhilai Floating Solar PV Plant is being developed by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited, a joint venture established by NTPC and SAIL-related entities. With the commissioning of the final module, the total capacity of the Bhilai Floating Solar PV Plant has reached 15MW, and the project has entered full commercial operation.
The operation of the Ramagundam Solar Project and the Bhilai Floating Solar PV Plant will further expand the renewable energy installed capacity of the NTPC Group. Upon project completion, the NTPC Group's total installed capacity has increased to 90,904MW, with commercial operation capacity reaching 89,824MW. For India's power system, solar projects and floating solar PV plants can provide additional clean electricity beyond conventional power sources. Future operational performance will still need to be observed in terms of power generation efficiency, grid integration and dispatch, and equipment availability.
