en.Wedoany.com Reported - Housebound Group LLC, an affiliate of Google, has submitted an application to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to build two data center projects in Haskell County, Texas.
Both data centers will be located at 1362 Red Creek Road in Haskell County, with each project requiring an investment of $400 million.
The Journey 1A project is scheduled to break ground on April 1, 2026, and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2027. The data center will have a building area of 285,280 square feet (26,505 square meters).
The Journey 2A project, with a building area of 210,420 square feet (19,550 square meters), is set to start construction on June 23, 2026, with a target completion date at the end of October.
In February 2026, a company named Homebound Group LLC (distinct from Housebound Group LLC) applied for a permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the same plot of land.
Tax abatement agreement documents on the Haskell County website link Homebound Group LLC to Google. According to these documents, the land being developed covers approximately 300 acres. The tax abatement agreement for the Journey project was approved in June 2025.
Another data center campus under development in Haskell County is named "Thelma." According to Aterio's research, the Journey project is located in northern Haskell County, while Thelma is in southern Haskell County and is progressing more rapidly.
The wastewater treatment application for the Thelma project indicates that five buildings will be constructed on the site, with the first building having an area of 280,000 square feet (26,015 square meters). An application has been submitted for the second building, which will have an area of 350,000 square feet (32,516 square meters). Aterio estimates the total power capacity of this campus to be approximately 440 megawatts.
A third Google-related campus received tax abatement from Haskell County in April 2026, developed by Ascendant Site Solutions LLC.
Google is planning a significant expansion of its data center scale in Texas. The company announced in November 2025 that it would invest $40 billion in the state. The investment plan includes expanding its existing data center campus in Ellis County and planning three new campuses in Armstrong County and Haskell County.
Haskell County is located in northwestern Texas, approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Abilene. Crusoe is currently developing a campus in Abilene for Microsoft and has completed a flagship data center campus for Oracle/OpenAI.
