Wedoany.com Report-Dec.27, Sembcorp Industries, a Singapore-based energy and urban solutions provider, has completed the acquisition of a 300 MW solar project in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The transaction was finalized on December 26, 2025.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra, the company acquired a 100% stake in ReNew Sun Bright from ReNew Private Limited. ReNew Sun Bright owns and operates the Fatehgarh solar project. The acquisition value is approximately SGD 246 million (equivalent to about $191.6 million).

The Fatehgarh solar facility commenced commercial operations in November 2021. It connects to India’s national grid via the inter-state transmission system. Electricity generated is sold under a 25-year power purchase agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd.

This acquisition was initially announced on October 8, 2025, with completion expected in the first half of 2026. The deal was executed ahead of schedule and funded through a combination of internal cash resources and external borrowings.

Following the transaction, Sembcorp’s renewable energy capacity installed and under development in India exceeds 7.6 GW. This marks a significant expansion of the company's presence in the Indian renewables sector, where it continues to build a robust portfolio of solar, wind, and hybrid projects.

Globally, Sembcorp’s renewables portfolio totals 20.2 GW, including assets pending completion. The addition of the Fatehgarh project strengthens Sembcorp’s position as a key player in supporting India's clean energy transition and contributes to stable, long-term power supply arrangements.

The project aligns with Sembcorp’s strategy to grow sustainable energy solutions in high-growth markets. By integrating operational solar assets with secure offtake agreements, the company enhances its ability to deliver reliable renewable generation.

This completion underscores ongoing momentum in India’s solar sector, where large-scale projects like Fatehgarh play a vital role in meeting rising energy needs while promoting environmental sustainability.

Sembcorp Industries is listed on the main board of the Singapore Exchange and focuses on delivering solutions that support energy transition and urban development through its global expertise.
