Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced this plan during the Katalyst Connect event hosted by the IT-BT Department and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, stating that the state government's total investment in improving Bengaluru's transport infrastructure has exceeded Rs 1.5 trillion (Rs 1.5 tn). At the event, the Chief Minister met with over 150 representatives from Global Capability Centres in the state and addressed issues related to last-mile connectivity.

In addition to the above projects, the government has also planned a 133 km flyover project and is constructing the 123 km Bangalore Business Corridor, with an initial allocation of Rs 260 billion (Rs 260 bn) for the first phase. Officials stated that the business corridor aims to streamline freight and commuter flow in key industrial and commercial zones. The government has also set a target of expanding the metro network to 500 km by next year to complement the road projects.
The Chief Minister stated that the Hebbal Tunnel Road has been prioritized since he took office, and planning is progressing despite political criticism. He described the tunnel and double-decker road solutions as a response to persistent congestion and as part of a multimodal transport strategy. Project timelines and procurement details are described as being advanced to accelerate implementation.
The interaction with Global Capability Centres formed part of a dialogue on urban connectivity and talent retention, with officials at the event presenting road and transport interventions aimed at reducing commute times. The government emphasized that infrastructure investments are intended to support the technology and services ecosystem and improve last-mile access for employees. Stakeholders were informed that coordinated delivery across projects is crucial to achieving the expected benefits. The government stated that phased execution will be prioritized to match funding and construction capacity, with further announcements on timelines and contractors to follow.
