Traffic Management Corps issued the first official special license plate for L3-level autonomous vehicles (Plate Number: Yu AD0001Z) to Changan Automobile.

Changan Automobile stated that its L3-level autonomous driving system has completed over 5 million kilometers of testing on various complex real urban roads in Chongqing. During testing, the system maintained a corresponding safety record when facing scenarios such as complex interchanges, narrow roads, and frequent vehicle merging. The company indicated that its testing scenario types are relatively comprehensive.

The issuance of this license plate is the result of collaborative efforts between relevant departments and enterprises against the backdrop of Chongqing's push to develop modern manufacturing clusters. The Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Corps organized a dedicated team to provide support in project application, evaluation, and vehicle registration. Chongqing's unique three-dimensional transportation environment also provided conditions for validating the autonomous driving vehicle system. The cooperation between both parties in areas such as policy innovation, road opening, and safety assurance has accumulated experience for the development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry.

It is reported that this "Yu AD0001Z" license plate will first be installed on vehicles from the Shenlan brand under Changan. With Chongqing Changan Vehicle Connectivity Technology Co., Ltd. as the operating entity, the vehicle is approved to conduct on-road pilot operations on designated typical congested road sections such as Chongqing's Inner Ring Expressway.
